Montenegrin court sentences Serbian national
A court in Montenegro sentenced a 20-year old Serbian woman to four months in prison on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a misdemeanour judge.
The court in the coastal resort of Kotor sentenced Belgrade student Sara Vidak for the assault and ordered her freed from detention pending appeal. Vidak, who holds dual Serbian and Canadian citizenship, was in custody in the Spuz prison after a judge refused to accept a 10,000 Euro bail bond and the surrender of both her passports. >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija <<
Vidak was charged with assault and arrested following an altercation with misdemeanour judge Jelena Stanisic who sentenced her boyfriend to pay a fine for a traffic accident. Vidak, her mother, brother and boyfriend testified that the judge grabbed Sara by the arm and started shouting that she was being attacked. Prosecution witnesses, who were the first to testify, claimed that Vidak assaulted the judge.
The Belgrade tabloid press has reported regularly on the Vidak case, quoting her father who visited her in jail and her mother and claiming that this was not the first time that Judge Stanisic had created problems for Serbian nationals.
