Minister: Lower limit for materniny allowance
A lower limit for the monthly maternity allowance will be introduced in Serbia because, according to the new Law, some mothers will now receive less than RSD 1,000 (around EUR 8.4) every month, Serbia’s Minister without portfolio in charge of demographics and population policy Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic said.
"The Population Policy Council discussed the possibility of introducing the lower limit for the monthly maternity allowance, because after calculating their maternity benefits >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << according to the new Financial Support Law for Families with Children, some mothers would be left with less than RSD 900 (around EUR 7.6) per month," Djukic-Dejanovic told the Politika daily.
Earlier, pregnant women who were employed on temporary and occasional jobs had no right to compensation for maternity leave, but the new Law stipulates that these mother also have the right to maternity allawance, Djukic-Dejanovic said.
