Measuring average speed on motorways starts in Serbia
The state road “Putevi Srbije” company says on Friday all is ready to start measuring an average speed on country’s motorways and that cameras are installed along them.
In case of speeding, drivers with Serbia’s licences plates will get their fines at a home address, while the foreigners will be stopped by police immediately, the company's statement said.They will be obliged to pay the fine at the nearest magistrate.
The statement warned the drivers that they >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << could not easily avoid fines by stopping along the motorway to reduce the average speed result because unmarked traffic police cars would also patrol the roads more frequently.
The average speed is easily calculated by a distance driven on a motorway. The highest allowed speed on motorways in Serbia is 120 kilometres per hour, while the fines for speeding range from three to 120,000 dinars or 25.5 to 1,020 Euros, depending on speeding.
The fines carry negative points, revoking a driver’s licence and possibly a jail term.
