MP says Serbian farmers right to protest
Serbian ruling party MP and Chairman of the Parliament Agriculture Committee Marijan Risticevic said he supports farmers in their protest over fuel prices.
He said the new law on excise taxes is being introduced to help them but voiced concern over possible fuel smuggling. “I support the lowering of excise taxes, even for the population. We have to see how much we can save. I spoke to the minister and agreement exists to meet their demands. We will lower the excise taxes and it >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << will not be a short-term measure,” Risticevic said on the N1 show Pressing.
He added that the raspberry farmers’ protest was also justified but added that they should not have blocked roads.
“The government built them a freezer facility to break up the cartels but the freezer was sold to private individuals,” Risticevic said. “I want new freezer facilities to be built so that farmers can store part of their crop and wait for better prices,” he added.
