Kopernikus worth 37 million Euros, analyst says

A former Serbian Trade Ministry official says the Kopernikus cable services provider is worth some 37.5 million Euro, Belgrade daily Danas reported on Tuesday.

Analyst Dragovan Milicevic, who was once a Trade Ministry state secretary, said that this the realistic value of the provider which was recently acquired by the state-owned Telekom Serbia is 4.5 billion Dinars or 37.5 million Euros. He said the estimate is based on financial reports, trends on the telecommunications services >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << market and the practice in similar take-overs in other countries.

The value of this type of company is based on market growth rates, business risks, capital expenses and planned growth rates.

A comparison of Kopernikus to 21 similar companies in Europe shows that its value is far below the 200 million Euros which is reported to have been paid by Telekom Serbia, Danas said.

According to data from telecommunications regulatory bodies, Serbia’s overall market was worth 264.7 million Euros last year. Milicevic said that trends and earnings predictions for the next 10 years show that Kopernikus is worth 37.5 million Euros. “There is no economic sense in this transaction,” he said.
