Joint Russian-Serbian military exercise starts
Russian and Serbian troops have started a tactical exercise in northwestern Russia, the TASS news agency reported on Tuesday.
A press release from Russia’s Western Military District said that troops from the two militaries were conducting the tactical live-fire exercise at the Luga training grounds in the Leningrad Region.
“Units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Serbia and a motorized infantry formation of the Western Military District have made a march using >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << armored vehicles to an area of combat employment where they have launched work for the organization of the ground and the camouflaging of their positions," the press release said.
The Russian and Army of Serbia troops will conduct counter-sabotage and reconnaissance drills with air defense teams deployed to provide cover and field command posts providing communications, including video-conferencing.
A joint command has been formed for the exercise which are scheduled to end on August 17. A total of some 800 troops, including 200 Army of Serbia personnel, are deployed at the Luga training grounds.
