Health minister: Significant amount for treatments abroad
Serbia’s Healthcare Minister Zlatibor Loncar said the state annually earmarked significant amounts for the treatment of rare diseases and for a small number of patients and their extremely expensive, difficult to get treatments.
According to the minister, the amount that the state allocates for these purposes in a year exceeds 2 billion Serbian dinars (RSD) (approx. 16.9 million).

The Minister also announced that a 24-hour available call centre for the parents whose children need to go abroad for medical treatment will be open soon.
According to Loncar, Serbia has sent 1,975 children for a treatment abroad and allocated EUR 23 million for this purpose since 2014 when the Budgetary fund for treatment of diseases, conditions or injuries that cannot be successfully treated in Serbia was established.
