Handicapped man without a car arrested during fuel protest
A man without a hand was arrested for taking part in blocking a road as part of the protest over high fuel prices across Serbia, Belgrade daily Danas reported on Wednesday.
It said that the local police in Preljina arrested Dejan Petkovic, who lost his hand in combat during the Kosovo war, even though he was on foot. “The six of us were arrested at the intersection at Preljina and got tickets for stopping traffic and walking along a highway,” Petkovic said adding the he does not own a car but was there to support the protest.
The local police in Preljina also took the names of some 10 more people who will have tickets sent to their homes.
