GDP higher in first quarter, Serbian Statistics Office says

Serbia’s GDP is 4.5 percent higher in real terms in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the same period a year earlier, according to data released on Monday by the country’s Statistics Office on Monday.

The planned growth for the period was 3.5 percent, the Beta news agency said.

The retail trade recorded a rise of 2.2 percent in March 2018 compared to the same month a year earlier with the goods trade recording a rise of 4.6 percent.

The country’s foreign trade also saw a rise of 1.07 percent in the first quarter compared to a year earlier with goods exports standing at 3.82 billion Euro or 8.7 percent higher and imports at 5.06 billion Euro or 12.3 percent higher than in the first quarter of 2017. The trade deficit stood at 1.24 billion Euro or 25.4 percent higher than a year earlier.
