Former Macedonian minister sentenced for illegal purchase
A court in Skoplje on Monday sentenced Macedonia’s former Internal Affairs Minister Gordana Jankulovska to six years in prison for the illegal purchase of a bullet-proofed car.
The luxury Mercedes S 600 Guard car was bought in 2012 for 600,000 Euros at the request of then Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski who was sentenced to two years earlier in the same case along with then assistant Internal Affairs Minister Djoko Popovski who got four and a half years but had his sentence cut >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << to two years on appeal.
The illegal purchase was made public when the a recording of a wire-tap was released the parties which are in power in Macedonia now. On the recording, Gruevski told Jankulovski to buy him the Mercedes.
Jankulovski’s trial was discontinued because of her pregnancy and resumed after her baby was born.
