Explosive device found in Montenegrin port

Montenegrin police sappers removed an explosive device from a road in the Adriatic port of Bar on Wednesday, Podgorica daily Vijesti reported.

A police press release said the device, wrapped in tape, had been found in the middle of a crossroads, adding that there were indications that it had fallen off a moving car. The police said an assassination had been prevented. The device is reported to have had half a kilogram of explosives in it.

Radovan Djurisic, spokesman for the Basic Prosecution in Bar, told Vijesti that explosives experts managed to defuse the device on the road where it was found. “That means it can be examined by forensic experts for evidence,” he said.

Local residents were evacuated before police explosive experts defused and removed the improvised explosive device.
