EIB Director: Western Balkan countries must cooperate
Because of its complexity, the Western Balkans needs to focus on economic cooperation, which will also help countries of the region in their efforts to join the European Union, said Director of European Investment Bank (EIB) for Western Europe, Dubravka Negre.
“The European Investment Bank, as an EU bank, wants to contribute through concrete projects, aimed at improving the connections regarding people and goods in Western Balkan countries and stimulate their regional cooperation >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << and economic development,” Negre told the Beta news agency.
She added that the EIB was tasked by the EU to help improving the socio-economic development of the countries in the region, but also to support the needs of the people when it comes to providing better healthcare, cleaner water, modern highways and better railway connections.
“We are active in all these sectors throughout the region. We recently signed contracts for the completion of the Banja Luka – Doboj highway and the Corridor 5c in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a contract for the support of modern and safer air traffic in Serbia and Montenegro,” Negre said.
