E-Administration will reduce corruption, Serbian PM says

The introduction of e-administration will reduce corruption and simplify procedures, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Friday.

The project to simplify administration procedures E-Papir, which was launched in 2016, is intended to set up a registry of all administrative procedures which will be fully electronic by the year 2021, she told a conference on e-administration, adding that she is amazed by the resistance from the state administration.

“Reducing the >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << burden on the economy and simplifying administrative procedures is a complex and ambitious job but the government will persist and complete it by the end of its term in office,” she said.

Replacing paper with digital administration will make procedures transparent and save time and money for the economy and the state administration.

Complicated administrative procedures are worst for small- and medium-sized companies and entrepreneurs, she said. Reducing the administrative burden on the economy has been a key project in Serbia since 2001, European Union delegation chief Sem Fabrizi said at the conference.

He recalled that the European Commission said in its progress report that Serbia has to continue reforming the public administration and business environment. The goal of those reforms is to make the public administration more efficient, Fabrizi said. He said the EU has provided 2.5 million Euro in aid for the project to simplify administrative procedures.
