'Don't let Belgrade drown' might form a "citizens front"

Activists from the 'Don't let Belgrade drown' citizen initiative might organise a "citizens front" together with other, similar organisations, which would not include political parties, but through which they would be able to express their positions on all national issues.

The 'Don’t let Belgrade drown' association formed when Belgrade citizens began protesting against the construction of a luxury complex in a popular gathering area in the city.

In May 2016, dozens >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << of masked men demolished privately owned or rented buildings in the area in question.

"The initiative considers forming a citizens front, without political parties. Through this front, we will express our stances on national issues," said Radomir Lazovic, from the initiative.

Citizens associations should provide a different kind of engagement in politics, a kind that could end the continuity which has brought the current government to power, he added.

Lazovic also said that despite their differing political stances, all political actors should fight for fair conditions and representation in the media and that the public broadcaster should make sure they get it.
