Croats increasingly suffer from a disease that leads to penile shortening and weakening of erection: People are getting depressed
Croats are getting sick with Peyronie's Disease more and more, in Latin Induratio penis plastica, which leads to a shortening of the penis, weaker erections and pain.
Peyronie's Disease is a benign disease of the connective tissue, which may be inherited or may occur as the consequence of minor damage within the elastic envelope of the penis, said "Jutarnji". It is characterized by the solid collagenous plaques of the envelope of the penis, which can lead to its curvature.

The disease most commonly affects men between the ages of 40 and 60 years, explains Dr. Dinko Hauptman, a specialist urologist with the Urology Clinic of the Clinical Hospital Center Zagreb.

Unfortunately, not much attention has been paid to this disease and no specific treatment has been conducted until recently. Although there is no data currently on the number of people suffering from the Peyronie's Disease in Croatia, the world's data show that the number of infected is at least five per cent, although it is estimated to grow to as much as 20%.
Peyronie's disease can be treated surgically, and with non-surgical methods - from vitamin E pills to injections of steroids into the affected area, but the evidence is lacking for those methods about effectiveness.
