Cooperation with tribunal impeccable, Serbian minister says
Belgrade’s cooperation with the UN criminal tribunal is impeccable, Serbian Justice Minister Nela Kuburovic told a session of the UN Security Council.
Serbia has no open issues with the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT) and there are no problems in cooperation, she said. The MICT is the successor court of the war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
Kuburovic expressed concern over the health of some of the people being tried or already >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << sentenced for war crimes before the UN tribunal. “In some cases, the medical care is inadequate,” she said.
Serbia handed hundreds of thousands of documents to the Hague Tribunal over a period of 20 years but has received none of them back, she said and refuted a statement by MICT chief prosecutor Serge Brammertz that Serbia had not tried any ranking officials, saying that a large number of those officials were sentenced by the ICTY.
According to the Justice Minister, war crimes committed against Serbs in Kosovo cannot be processed because Pristina is refusing to cooperation with Belgrade.
