Avala tower expects more than 200,000 visitors this year

A solemn opening of the summer stage plateau beneath the Belgrade’s Avala tower was held on Sunday in presence of the city and state officials.

Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic said that more than 200,000 tourists are expected to visit the tower this year, adding that the first three months of 2018 already exceeded the average of the same period in 2017 by 35 percent.

The City Mayor Sinisa Mali reminded that construction of a large gondola, which would connect the Kalemegdan fortress and the Usce park will start by the end of this year.

The special attraction of the eight anniversary of reopening of the Avala tower, which was destructed in the NATO bombing in 1999, was abseiling from the 106th metre of the tower.
