AmCham says Serbian economy stable

American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) members want the Serbian government to improve the rule of law, make the judiciary more efficient and raise the capacities of state administration to implement regulations, a report released on Thursday showed.

The report was presented at a conference on reforms in Belgrade. It said that Serbia has a stable economic climate but with high taxes and other duties. A total of 79 percent of the 200 Serbian companies in AmCham were polled for the >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << report.

According to the report, 51 percent of the polled companies said the biggest challenges they faced include unpredictable changes of regulations and difficulties in finding additional sources of financing. Growth is expected in 2019 by 73 percent of the polled companies and new jobs by 58 percent.

The AmCham companies said that Serbia is a better destination for investors than Montenegro, Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina but still lags behind neighbouring European Union member states.
