Air Serbia flight forced to land in Cyprus
An overnight Air Serbia flight from Belgrade to the Egyptian resort of Hurgada was forced to land in Cyprus “due to technical faults”, Belgrade media reported on Wednesday.
Media reports quoted passengers who said there was smoke in the aircraft, allegedly from the cargo compartment. All 143 Passengers and 6 crew were evacuated at Pafos airport and the aircraft was checked for malfunctions.
The Cyprus police said that the Air Serbia crew requested clearance to land >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << after a fire alarm went off in the cargo compartment. Air Serbia issued a statement, apologising to its passengers for the delay and saying that the security of passengers and crew was its top priority.
The charter flight continued to Hurgada and is expected to return to Belgrade during the day.
