Vucic, Fabrizi announce opening of Novi Sad bridge
A key bridge across the Danube river in Novi Sad will be opened for road traffic this week, according to a press release from the Serbian president’s cabinet on Monday.
The press release said that the opening of the Zezelj bridge was announced during President Aleksandar Vucic’s meeting with European Union Delegation chief Sem Fabrizi.
European Commissioner johannes Hahn is expected to attend the opening ceremony, Fabrizi said and added that the EU has invested more >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << than 30 million Euro into the reconstruction of that bridge and approach roads “because this bridge serves to connect the region and contribute to strengthening the Serbian economy”, the press release quotes him as saying.
The Zezelj bridge was heavily damaged during the NATO bombing campaign in 1999.
Vucic thanked the EU for its help in restoring the bridge. “Serbia is prepared to work with the EU in implementing its obligations in the negotiation process, especially chapters 23 and 24,” he said.
The Serbian president said he would continue investing effort to find a compromise solution in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue under EU auspices which would bring lasting peace and stability to the region.
