Serbian opposition, ruling party clash in Belgrade

Opposition activists were attacked once again on Saturday, a day after an incident in front of the Serbian Presidency Building.

Activists of the opposition Alliance for Serbia were verbally assaulted in New Belgrade by a group of Belgrade city councilors from the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). The SNS claims that Popular Party deputy leader Nikola Jovanovic attacked its activists.

The Popular Party >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << is a member of the Alliance for Serbia. The two groups clashed verbally over the Kosovo issue, trading accusations.

The Popular Party said in a statement that a group of SNS councilors and city officials verbally assaulted Jovanovic who was collecting signature for a petition against any agreement which would allow Kosovo to become a UN member.

A SNS statement said that Jovanovic verbally assaulted its activists, councilors and officials.
