One of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic can disappear. They will destroy it, they are all outraged by what emerges on its rocks (VIDEO)

Locals of Konavle were disturbed by the news that there are plans to build hydroelectric power plant under the Konavle rocks. This is where the beach lies which was named one of the most beautiful in Croatia on multiple occasions, writes Dnevnik.hr.

Citizens can vote what they think about the project of the Ministry of Environment until 16. January, and they found out about in 10 days before the dead line. The county and municipality promise to ask for detailed analysis. Pasjaca is >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu Telegraf.rs << a beach hidden under the rocks of Konavle, in Popovic.

- Everyone is bitter about the project. Members of the local board will ask for the investor to present his project and for the municipality of Konavle to organize it, because it is in charge of the spacial planning, and to talk about it - said Pero Kojan from Popovic.

Citizens know nothing about the project. Only that the Ministry of Environment asks the public if the project needs the study of its impact on the environment. People from Konavle think that one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia will be destroyed if the hydroelectric power plant is built.

The municipality, which enlisted this project in their spacial planning, say that - we need a judge.

- It wouldn't be good to destroy something prejudicial to something else, we do not depend on that that electricity production, we have a project of wind park, but if it brings something good, we will side with it, if not, than we will say we are not pleased with it - said Luka Korda (Croatian Democratic Union), Mayor of Konavle.

The municipality claims that they are not familiar with the new project.

- I have no contribution, we have no coordination to say if we are asked for any kind of opinion.

But Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Nikola Dobroslavic (Croatian Democratic Union) says - ministry seeks an opinion. I will ask county for the study of environmental impacts.

- My thoughts are that it would be dangerous not to do the study because the consultation with the citizens would be avoided.

Private investor plans to build a flowing, underground hydroelectric power station with an underground machine workshop - more than two kilometers between the Konavle and the sea, where there is already a tunnel. Both Municipality and the Region say - will take into account the opinion of the inhabitants of Konavle.
