Tito monument appears overnight in Serbian town
A monument to the late Yugoslav leader Josip Broz Tito appeared in a central square in the town of Uzice, 27 years after an older monument was removed.
The town was named Titovo (Tito’s) Uzice after World War 2. Tito’s name was dropped in 1991.
The new monument is made of paper and other materials and was put up overnight as part of the props for a student film, drawing huge interest from local residents.
Some Uzice residents said the monument is nice but didn’t know why it was there.
The original monument should still be there, one resident said.
