Serbia reinstates visa regime for Iranians
The Serbian government has decided to abolish the visa-free regime for citizens of Iran, the Official Gazette said on Wednesday.
The decision was taken on October 8 and takes effect eight days after being published in the Official Gazette.
Internal Affairs Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said in parliament on Wednesday that visas will be re-introduced for citizens of Iran because a number of Iranian nationals abused the privilege of visa-free travel to Serbia.
The number of Iranians travelling to Serbia to seek asylum has risen significantly following the decision to abolish visas.
