Oil refinery explosion kills one, injures nine in Bosnia
One person died and nine were injured in a strong explosion that hit an oil refinery in the northern Bosnian town of Brod on Tuesday evening, the latest reports said.
The reports from last night said eight people were injured.
A strong detonation echoed throughout the town and neighbouring Croatia's Slavonski Brod at around 9.30 p.m., followed by a fire that was put down about two hours later, the police confirmed.
The cause of the explosion in the Russian >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << owned oil refinery is not known yet, N1's Adisa Imamovic reported from the town adding that the police have started an on-site investigation early on Wednesday. The reporters were not allowed to the site.
The management of Optima Group, the local company that runs the refinery on behalf of its majority owner, Russian state-owned Zarubezhneft, has not commented yet.
