Kosovo president says PM involved with underworld figure
The conflict between Kosovo’s top political officials got a new chapter on Monday when President Hashim Thaci accused Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj of inflating the lists of war veterans granted pensions and associating with an alleged Kosovo Serb underworld figure.
Thaci told a news conference that Haradinaj should be more rational and show more responsibility when speaking about the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << He was responding to the prime minister’s statement that the idea to divide territory is dead and that Thaci should not be discussing territory with Serbia.
The president said that Haradinaj was willing to give up on annexing the Presevo valley for the sake of one man, the KoSSev portal said, adding that this was an allusion to Kosovo Serb Milan Radojicic who is believed to have the greatest influence on life in northern Kosovo.
Thaci also disputed the number of Kosovo Liberation Army veterans, saying that there were no more than 12,000 combatants and disputing the prime minister’s claims that there are up to 60,000. The lists of veterans have been disputed recently when investigators found that some of the people on the lists were not combatants and do not have the right to the pensions which were allegedly claimed by state officials.
