Vucic says Kosovo military will disrupt regional stability
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told reporters on Friday that he told State Department official Matthew Palmer that the forming of a military in Kosovo would disrupt the stability of the region.
Speaking at a joint news conference after the meeting, Vucic said that he asked the US to realize that a Kosovo military poses a danger to the peace and stability of the Western Balkans. Washington’s position >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << on the issue is not new, he said and expressed certainty that Washington would show understanding.
Vucic said he told Palmer that the forming of a military in Kosovo is not part of any international document, including Belgrade’s agreement with NATO that the Kosovo Security Forces can deploy in northern Kosovo only with the agreement of NATO and the local Serbs.
Serbia would be forced into a corner with no way out if the forming of the Kosovo armed forces and their deployment in the north goes ahead.
Palmer said that Washington support the forming of a Kosovo military but added that the process will take time with the US making sure that it is completed in a way that contributes to regional peace and stability.
He reiterated US support for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue to reach an agreement on a full normalization of relations.
