EU’s Mogherini to Balkan leaders: Speed up reforms
The EU Foreign Policy and Security chief Federica Mogherini urged the Western Balkans’ leaders on Wednesday to accelerate the reforms in their countries in order to get closer to the bloc.
Mogherini is on a two-day tour of the region ahead of the EU Summit on the Western Balkans to be held in Sofia in May.
“By speeding up the essential reforms you will meet expectations of your respective >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << citizens and thus make those changes visible to the EU as well,” she was quoted as saying during an informal dinner in Macedonian capital Skopje, hosted by Macedonian prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
The dinner, organised at the opening of the Western Balkans Digital Summit, was also attended by prime ministers of Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro and by the president of the Ministerial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The prime ministers confirmed their sincere commitment the full implementation of reforms with a clear aim to accelerate the EU accession process,” said statement by the Macedonian government.
