Serbian minister wants subscription for reality shows

Serbian Culture Minister Vladan Vukosavljevic said he would like reality shows to be under subscription instead of being freely aired on TV stations with national frequencies.

The minister told a gathering on culture that he believes that reality shows should be aired only on subscriber channels, not on stations with national frequencies, adding that those frequencies are a national resource.

He said that “reality shows are an embarrassment for the media scene” and >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << are “spiritually and mentally destroying the nation”.

Vukosavljevic said that reality shows cannot be justified by saying that this is what the people want. “This is not a nation of crazy people,” he said and added that his ministry does not have the powers to regulate reality shows which fall under the jurisdiction of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM).
