Youth in Serbia don’t trust institutions

Young Serbia’s people generally place a low trust in the state institutions, with a bit more confidence in the army, Ministry of Youth and Sport, the church and police, the Youth in Serbia Umbrella Organisation (KOMS) said on Thursday.

The organisation’s research covering young people from 15 to 30 years of age showed the majority thought political parties were corrupted and not working in the interest of the people, while 92 percent of the respondents believed a party membership >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << would guarantee a job.

On the scale from one to five, the army scored 3.3 points, Youth and Sports Ministry 2.6, the church 2.5 and police 2.2.

The survey also showed that the young people personalised their relationship with those in charge of the institutions, so President Aleksandar Vucic is placed at 1.8, the Government, Defence and Labour ministries at 1.6, while less confidence is shown into the Interior Ministry, 1.5, the parliament 1.4 and the deputies 1.3.

Only the third of the polled believed democracy was the best social system, and less than a half thought the multi-party organisation was better than a single-party society.
