Wildfire in Belgrade suburb injuers 10 people
In a huge fire that engulfed a part of Belgrade suburb of Zemun, near the Pupin bridge, late on Tuesday, a total of ten people were injured before the fire brigade managed to localise it after four hours, N1 reported.
The fire caught two warehouses, sending flames 20 meters at its peak.
Many firefighters were still on the scene on Wednsday morning, struggiling with fire for over four hours before they localise it.
An N1 reporter said that several hundred square >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << meters were under fire, endangering the other nearby facilities.
Police have blocked traffic along a main road in the vicinity and evacuated people from the closest apartments building.
The security staff from the facilities possibly in the way of the wildfire were also taken to safety.
The residents were watching the fire for fear it might spread to their homes.
Serbia’s Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic and the chef of Belgrade police are at the scene, while more firefighters are coming to help contain the wildfire.
The reason that triggered the fire is still to be determined.
