Value of bank loans rises in Serbia

The value of bank loans to all segments of the population and economy rose 1.5 percent in June compared to May, the Serbian Association of Banks said on Wednesday.

Overall loans to the economy, the population and entrepreneurs stood at 2.3 billion Dinars (about 19.5 million Euros) at the end of June or 1.5 percent higher than a month earlier, the Association said.

The population’s debt to banks rose by 1.6 percent to stand at 918.9 billion Dinars (about 7.8 billion Euros) with cash loans rising by 2.2 percent, consumer loans by 1.8 percent and refinancing loans by 1.4 percent.

Agriculture industry loans rose by 2.5 percent, recording the highest rise from May to June.

Repayments of 8.5 percent of loans to the economy were running late, as were 7.6 percent of the loans to entrepreneurs and 3.8 percent of loans to the population, the Serbian Association of Banks said.
