State not source of false news, Serbian official says
The government and state bodies are not the source of false news, a Serbian Culture and Information Ministry official told the FoNet news agency on Tuesday.
“I don’t think the authorities are spreading false news. I am one of the people who believe that news from state bodies and staff are true because they have accountability when they agreed to become part of the state,” Ministry State Secretary Aleksandar Gajovic said.
“Who is it that spreads false news? Possibly >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << journalists could be tricked with news that someone wants to spread deliberately and that is something that inflicts damage on the media. Once a report is proved to be false we no longer trust that media,” he said.
According to Gajovic, false news are dangerous because they can trick the public into forming an opinion based on falsehoods.
