Serbia’s FM: Croatia attempts to rewrite its history
Ivica Dacic, Serbia’s Foreign Minister, said on Monday his country should not be surprised by the Croatian attitude toward their 1995 operation “Storm, but added that people (in the region) should look into the future, the FoNet news agency reported.
However, he told the Pink television, the talks with Croatia’s officials were “difficult,” because they deny and relativise crimes.

Croatia celebrates it as the significant military success that liberated a part of its territory held by the rebel Serbs for four years, while Serbia describes it as a premeditated ethnic cleansing campaign that forced some 200,000 local Serbs to flee Croatia.
“We shouldn’t be surprised by anything from Croatia because it is probably the only European Union, and also the only European country that celebrates ethnic cleansing,” Dacic said.
That is, he has added, an attempt to relativise and clear the history. “No one can erase the Croatian World War II history.”
“The war in Croatia did not start by aggression from Serbia. Slovenia and Croatia had illegally seceded from Yugoslavia (in June 1991) and the then Feral Government, headed by a Croat Ante Markovic, reacted,” Dacic said.
Dacic said that Croatia’s attitude toward the past and the Serb people, was to deny crimes continually, but, he added that “objective historical problems should not be our topics in the talks about the future.”
