Serbian soldiers and US marines in an exercise in Bulgaria
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces are taking part in a multinational exercise “Platinum Lion 18,” which began at the “Novo Selo” range in Bulgaria and will last until August 7.
The firing squad from the 31st Infantry Battalion of the Army’s Third Brigade, along with members of armed forces of Bulgaria, Moldova and the United States, will take part in a tactical firing exercise with live ammunition.
Serbia’s Defence Ministry said that “the aim of this exercise >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << is to improve the interoperability and joint understanding between members of partner armed forces (...) in defence, offence and stabilisation operations in a multinational environment.”
The exercise is organised by the Black Sea Rotational Forces of the US Marine Corps for Europe and Africa and it gathered more than 600 participants from Albania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and the US.
The “Platinum” exercises are held since 2014 in Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia, while the “Lion” exercises are held in Bulgaria, “Eagle” in Romania and the “Wolf” in Serbia.
From 2016, exercises held in Serbia are implemented in cooperation with the Ohio National Guard.
