Serbian president in China
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is on three-day visit to China during which he expects to finalise a number of deals with Chinese companies and banks.
Vucic and his delegation are taking part in a global economic forum and is scheduled to meet with China’s president Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang. He told reporters travelling with him that he would have some strange requests for his Chinese counterpart.
“First, I will do something, I can’t tell you >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << how, to secure a visit by the Chinese president to Serbia. Once he comes to Serbia there will be no other problems. And I have another idea – I want innovative technology to give Serbia a comparative advantage over many countries in the region and Europe. I will have some strange requests for President Xi, I hope he won’t laugh at me and will understand what I want for Serbia,” Vucic said.
Vucic and Xi are set to verify a special economic package of some 10 contracts to secure capital investments worth more than 1.5 billion Dollars, not including the investments in the RTB Bor mining and smelting company.
Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali signed a framework agreement with China’s Shandong Linglong company on the tire makers investments in a plant in the town of Zrenjanin which should start deliveries in 2021.
Vucic said that the investment of 900 million Dollars will change things in both Zrenjanin and the Banat region. “This is a big thing because we have not had large-scale investments in Banat for a long time and the population has been moving away,” he added.
Speaking after a meeting between officials of the Bank of China and Serbia’s Eksim Bank, the Serbian president said that this is an opportunity for Serbia to have the fastest growing economy in Europe thanks to Chinese investments over the next two to three years.
