Serbian police chief denies helping migrants cross borders
Serbian Border Police chief Milenko Bozovic on Wednesday denied claims by Bosnian officials that his officers were showing migrants how to cross the border into other countries.
“The claims that Serbia is directing migrants to neighbouring countries are absolutely incorrect,” Bozovic said in a written statement, adding that police officers patrolling the Drina river border with Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) stopped a boat with seven migrants trying to cross the border illegally.
The Serbian Border Police chief’s statement comes after BiH Una-Sana Canton Internal Affairs Minister Anel Ramic said the Serbian police showed illegal migrants how to cross into Bosnia.
