Serbian minister announces new road and rail projects

Serbian Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlovic announced a new investment cycle worth several billion Euros on Wednesday.

Speaking during a meeting with an International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation, Mihajlovic said that her ministry would implement new projects over the next few years intended to improve links to the region and rest of Europe. “We have spent two years preparing the technical documentation and construction will start early next year,” the minister said, >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << adding that highways linking Serbia to Montenegro, the city of Nis to Pristina in Kosovo would be built along with the final section of the Belgrade-Budapest fast railway. She said everything is ready to build a Belgrade-Sarajevo highway.

“The biggest investments in Serbia come from this ministry. Next year our budget will be 20 billion Dinars (1 Euro – 119 Dinars) higher than last year and I am convinced that we will complete every project,” Mihajlovic said.

IMF mission chief James Roaf said that international financial organization supports infrastructure investments in Serbia and voiced the expectation that the country will maintain its positive economic trends.

The meeting was attended by World Bank Serbia office chief Stephen Ndegwa.
