Serbian basketball coach honored by Sarajevo

Bosnia’s national basketball team coach Dusko Vujosevic is set to become a honorary citizen of Sarajevo.

Vujosevic, a former coach of Partizan Belgrade, told Sport Klub that he views the decision as a tribute to his lifelong engagement in basketball.

“This is not just for what I have done as Bosnia-Herzegovina national team coach but as an expression of understanding of all my work and lifelong engagement which was most often not in Sarajevo but did touch on Sarajevo >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << through various circumstances. They recognized this, appreciate it and this is truly a big obligation because the reward is just as big,” Vujosevic said. “Maybe I’ll get the same from Belgrade posthumously,” he added.

The Sarajevo city authorities decided to make Vujosevic, a Serbian basketball expert, a honorary citizen of the Bosnian capital for his work with the national basketball team, leading them in the qualifications for the world championships. Vujosevic spent most of his career in Partizan Belgrade but has also worked Italian, French and Russian teams. He moved to Sarajevo to coach the national team in 2017. Vujosevic won the Euroleague Coach of the Year award in 2009.
