Serbian Women’s journalism award goes to web portal
The 2018 Winning Freedom (Osvajanje Slobode) award was presented to the editors of the Pescanik web portal which publishes articles by journalists, politicians, commentators and columnists.
Pescanik has been viewed as critical of the authorities since its foundation.
The sites two editors in chief Svetlana Lukic and Svetlana Vukovic Mesarovic were presented the award from the Maja Marsicevic Tasic foundation. The award is given only to women contributing to journalism >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << by a jury of women, including previous winners.
Speaking after the ceremony, Lukic said that “18 years after the September 24 2000 elections (which then President Slobodan Milosevic lost but refused to step down) it’s clear that the defeat is complete and that we have lost everything”.
“We even lost the one thing we were sure we could not loose, the right to freely and democratically elect our political representatives. Instead of a state which we failed to create we got a horde which is loyal to the leader,” she said adding that Serbia has a two party system in which one party is formed by people thrilled by (President Aleksandar) Vucic and a second formed by people paralysed by Vucic.
