Serbia humane to refugees, UNHCR official says
Serbia has been very humane in tackling the refugee problem since the early 1990s and has provided aid to hundreds of thousands of people, UNHCR Serbia Senior Protection Officer John Andrew Young said on Wednesday.
The only difference, according to Young, is that now the refugees are coming from far away countries such as Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Speaking on World Refugee Day, Young said there have been no xenophobic or negative reactions towards these people of different nationality, faith, adding that Serbia could serve as a model for other countries.
