Serbia chose total defence, Minister Vulin says
Serbia has chosen the concept of total defence but has not trained the population for that, Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin said and added that a majority of the population wants conscription reinstated.
“There is no better guarantee of peace than a strong country, a strong military and a strong nation which can defend itself. No one wants a conflict with that nation but to avoid war you have to prepare for it,” he told TV Pink.
“We have chosen the concept of >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << total defence which means that the entire country takes part in defence in war but how can they take part when we haven’t trained them,” he said.
According to the defence minister, there is no professional army anywhere in the world which can defend a country on its own” which is why the reserves have to be reinforced.
