Pristina’s PM: Division of Kosovo means war
Only hours after the US envoy to Pristina Greg Delawie said that a deal on an eventual partition of Kosovo depended on the two capitals, Kosovo’s Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj warned that such move would mean war, the KosSev website reported on Friday.
Speaking to Kosovo’s Dukagjini television, Haradinaj said that “even putting a finger at the territory means war.”
"Division means war for me, >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << and I say that without hesitation. It’s risky to speak about the partition,” Haradinaj said, without directly mentioning Delawie's comments.
Late on Thursday, Delawie told the TV’s political show Rubicon that a deal on an eventual partition of Kosovo depended on the two capitals and refused to comment on ruling out the division because he "did not want to comment on issues that would be a part of a final agreement."
“I will not speak about the details, about in which hall or at which roundtable discussion that will happen. Especially not if that would be ahead of the talks involving a larger number of Kosovo's political parties. Everyone should participate and speak about all the issues,” he said.
Haradinaj on Friday rejected yet another idea, this time coming from an Albanian politician about the exchange of territories with Serbia.
The idea is not new and means that Belgrade would get control of Kosovo’s northern chunk in exchange for Albanian-dominated municipalities in Serbia’s south.
However, Haradinaj said that “there is no victory, exchange of territory, or changes the borders. That’s dangerous and something we should not try to do in these circumstances.”
He added that anyone mentioning the split would bring tragedy to the Balkans.
