Police seize 600 kg marijuana at Serbia-Bulgaria border

Serbia’s Police and border officers seized almost 600 kilograms of marijuana and arrested two men at the Dimitrovgrad border crossing with Bulgaria, N1 reported.

The police stooped two lorries with licence plates from Croatia and Serbia, carrying 316 and 274 kilograms respectively and apprehended both drivers.

The two are suspected of illegal production and selling the drugs and would be handed over to a prosecutor’s office.

The operation continued, and early last month police seized more than 23 kilograms of various types of narcotics, dismantled a marijuana production laboratory in a central city of Kragujevac and a cannabis oil laboratory in Belgrade and arrested 35 people on drug-related charges.

They also discovered 28 rifles, including four assault weapons, 27 handguns and more than 3,000 rounds of various types of ammunition and almost three kilograms of explosives and arrested ten people on firearms charges.

Later in July, police seized two kilograms of uncut heroin in a raid in a south-western town of Novi Pazar.
