Police combats corruption, financial crime in Serbia
The Serbian police arrested 16 people and filed financial crime and corruption charges against 42 others, the Internal Affairs Ministry said on wednesday.
The arrests were part of several joint operations by the police, prosecutors and Tax Police, adding that investigators found that some 800,000 Euro in damages were inflicted on the budget.
The police arrested several CEOs and filed charges against one police officer, four customs officer and a number of local officials in eight towns and cities.
The charges were filed for abuse of position, bribery, tax evasion, illegal production and sale, embezzlement, document forgery and illegal loans.
