Officials: Continuation of Belgrade – Pristina talks a must

Brussels agreement on normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina is a chance for the establishment of the mutual trust between the Serbs and the Albanians, a group of governments' and human rights officials say, N1 has reported on Monday.

At the roundtable discussion titled “Is the Brussels agreement clinical dead,” organised by the National Convent on the European Union, the participants said that problems could be reached only in dialogue.

The representatives >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << of Serbia’s Government Office for Kosovo, Pristina’s Government and Pristina’s Youth Initiative for Human Rights agreed that the dialogue between the two sides should continue.

The talks in Brussels have been put on hold since September 7, after Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic refused to meet his Kosovo’s counterpart Hashim Thaci explaining his move as a consequence of constant provocations from Pristina.

Kosovo’s Government Deputy Prime Minister Dalibor Jevtic said that the Brussels agreement would not be dead if all its guarantors enabled the implementation of the agreed deals.

Damjan Jovic, a member of the Office for Kosovo, mentioned Vucic’s initiative for a solution to Kosovo’s issue but did not know what it was and who had a chance to see it.

He added he only knew that it was about demarcation and that all other information should be found in media.

Belgrade and Pristina have different ideas of the boundary. Thaci advocates the annexation of Serbia’s southern region mostly populated by the ethnic Albanians, calling it a border correction, while Vucic said there was no way Pristina could get everything and Belgrade nothing, but did not elaborate.
