New opposition 'Civil Bloc 381' formed in Serbia
Serbia’s new opposition bloc, made up of five parties and organisations across the country, was established in Belgrade on Tuesday, the Beta news agency reported.
The Free Citizens’ Movement (PSG), Green Ecology Party – the Greens, Hungarian Movement, Sumadija Region and Coalition for Tolerance joined forces in the alliance called “Civil Bloc 381”, in Serbia.
Sasa Jankovic, the head of the PSG, will lead the bloc. He told reporters that the alliance was formed >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << as an expression of the political will to “liberate Serbia from the current regime and to modernise the country."
The members aim to bring about “freedom and justice through the democratic institutions, to lead Serbia into the European Union and close to the West, to enforce market economy with strong social policy and to create an ecological state and the society of tolerance and progress.”
Unlike the existing Alliance for Serbia, new bloc advocates that Kosovo should become a United Nations and other international institutions’ member, but that Belgrade should not recognise its independence.
The Civil Bloc 381 also says that the Serbs in Kosovo should have “a territorial and personal autonomy, local and personal self-governing institutions, special guarantees of their human rights, as well as for the sustainable return of the displaced people and the protection of their religious, cultural and historical heritage, and property rights.”
