New laws to allow loan guarantees to foreign companies
New laws will allow Serbian companies to provide loans and loan guarantees to foreign companies and debtors under conditions set by the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), Belgrade daily newspaper Politika reported.
Under new laws which are expected to be urgently adopted by parliament, companies from Serbia will also be able to give guarantees for loans between foreign companies, Politika said adding that this means that local companies operating as part of the Croatian concern Agrokor >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << will be able to provide loan guarantees for Croatian companies which was not the case to date.
The Serbian food production and retail companies Frikom, Dijamant and IDEA have been protected from the fallout since their parent company Agrokor started experiencing serious financial problems in 2017.
