More than half of Serbian women unemployed
More than half the female population of Serbia have no job or are not trying to find one, the Serbian Statistics Office and Parliament Budget Office said on Thursday.
A report from those two offices specified that 53.7 percent of all women of working age are out of work. Around 127,000 more women found employment in 2017 than in 2014, the gap between employed men and women remains the same.
The main reasons cited for the high unemployment rate among women are age (25 percent more women than men are over the age of 65), education, training and illnesses, care of children and the elderly and other family reasons.
