More than 5,000 measles cases in Serbia

A total of 5,402 people have been diagnosed with measles in Serbia and Serb-majority parts of Kosovo, Serbia’s Public Health Institute said on Wednesday, adding that 405 of them are in Kosovo.

The Institute website says that 15 people have died of complications after contracting measles.

Most of the cases of measles were diagnosed in people who were not inoculated or were only partly inoculated. Of >> Pročitaj celu vest na sajtu N1 televizija << the total number of cases, 33 people were hospitalized, the Institute said, and added that inflammations of the brain were reported in two cases and pneumonia in 558 cases.

The youngest of the patients is a baby just 15 days old while the oldest is 71. Most of the cases are among children under the age of five or adults over the age of 30.

The first death of complications in a patient with measles in 20 years was registered on December 27, 2017.
